Question by : What is the lightest 17″ Windows laptop available currently?
I’ve read that the Mac book Pro 17″ is the lightest at roughly 6.6 pounds, but this is for a user who does NOT like change. The user would have a difficult time migrating over to OS X and gets frustrated easily, so we don’t want to suggest that to her. Anybody out there have a really light 17″ laptop? Product page links would be appreciated!

I don’t know the lightest but I looked up a bunch of 17″ laptops at Laptop Magazine here:

Two of the lighter laptops were the HP ProBook 4720 at 6.8 Lbs and the Samsung R780 which came in at 6.4 Lbs.

Both also come with a Core i5 processor which gives you plenty of horsepower with features like Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading. Additionally, The 2010 Core i5 processor is built with 32nm technology so it gives you really excellent energy efficiency.

Hi Max,
You should take a look at the Acer Aspire AS7740-5691. It has a 17.3″ screen and weighs only 7.1 lbs. Plus, it is inexpensive at only $ 649 and has Intel Core i3 processing. It also features Windows 7 Home Premium. Check out the link below for full specs.
I hope this is helpful!
