I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop and need a replacement keyboard. Yesterday I spilled some liquid on it and it shorted out (thank God nothing got in the internals).

My husband wont buy the keyboard if it isn’t from some company with a good reputation. That is what I get for marrying an engineer….

I tried NewEgg to no avail…

if your keyboard shorted out your motherboard may have also you should have it checked before buying a keyboard

any brands that are like 200-300 that are a good brand BUT are within that range? looking to get it during the after Christmas sells so i DO have a while but i want a good brand in mind
i had a good feeling that after Christmas would be a good time to get a discount due to after Christmas sells and whatnot

I don’t know about these newer eMachine laptops specifically, but if the past is any indication, these aren’t worth it. They will made dandy doorstops, however. :)

If you go to staples right now they have a hp pavilion dv7 notebook for 600 dollars heres the specs: AMD Truion x2 dual core mobile processer 2.0 gh – 4 GB of memory (very good!!!!!) – 320 GB hard drive (that’s a lot of storage :) – Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit color w/th SP1 – ATI radon graphics (note: this takes 328 MB of shared memory but this wont effect it very much while using the computer) – 17 inch true life HD WXGA moniter – a free media center control remote =) – built in altec lansing speakers – this laptop is great for the price it also has compactive media controls and a very cool built in webcam this laptop is super good for multitasking, simple gaming, surfing the web, and it is ment for entertainment this is a sale from staples only! i bought one a few days ago and im waiting for it to be shiped to my home Hope you get a great deal i strongly recommend this one if it is in your budget!!!

I had zero problems The only bad thing is the weight it is huge!!!!! if you can handle the weight get it it kind of puts a imprint in your leg when you are using it i would get a good place to dock it

I have a budget of £500-£550 and I’m looking for a fast,and reliable laptop for watching HD movies and burning DVDs along with general web browsing. I have been a fan of samsung laptops for a while and I’m keen to get one. However, if anyone can tell me if there are any other standout laptops for that price that are significantly better then I’m all ears! Any information and advice is much appreciated. Thanks

The i3 is no faster than the multi core processors The performance may be a little faster for a while, then on Que it will start to slow down in a couple of months, You could have the top notch system using the new Intel i7 processor and 8 gig of DDR3 ram and the same will happen. People have been on here already asking question stating that they have bought the new Intel i3 i5 i7 systems and they are having problems with them, The problem is not with the hardware the problem is windows OS period,

For example how long as the multi core processor been out? Have you ever seem a window 7 multi core operating system “No” Have you seen a windows drivers for the new DD3 memory or the new USB 3 hardware “No” that shows you how far behind MS OS is when it comes to new technology,

If you want a Free operating system with Free 64 bit application software that has all of the above then look no farther than Linux Intel support and contribute to Linux Operating System the drivers for the new i3, i5, i7 processors and DDR3 memory are in the Linux operating system kernel

If you want an upto date operating system (October 2010) then check Linux out, here
